The No.1 Hits of The 1940's, 1950's & 1960's
The Stars who sang them

Their Sheet Music Photograph
Back in the 1960’s, as a pianist with my band The Hi-Fi Combo, I was proud to share the stage on the tours of so many of the great No.1 Hit stars of the decade, The Troggs, The Kinks, Chris Farlowe, Marmalade, Crispian St Peters, Ivy League etc. As a pastime, I collected all of the UK No.1 sheet music of The Swinging 60's, the photographs which I now share here. Click on any photograph below to hear your favourite No.1 song again. I have now added every hit of The War Years of 1939-1945.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Edward Johnstone and I'm from Scotland. I have been a fan of the music of the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's all of my life. Thanks for visiting, I've been delighted to share my Sheet Music Collection with you on our trip together down Memory Lane. In June of 1966 my band was gigging the 'Star Club' and 'Star Palast' circuit in Germany via the towns of Kiel, Dortmund, Schleswig and Luneburg. The Beatles were now too hot for that circuit of course but were also gigging that month in Germany in their ‘Bravo Blitz’ tour playing the Circus Krone in Munich. Their Set now included brilliant hits such as Day Tripper, Paperback Writer I Feel Fine and Yesterday. I recalled that situation when I named my Web Site “The Blitz to the Beatles".
I have had the great, good fortune, along with my band, to have supported many of the UK No 1 bands of the 1960's on stage and also recorded during the years of 1965 and 1966 and toured in Germany's Star Clubs & Star Palasts. Those wonderful experiences really amplified my love of that amazing era and provide great memories. . . . and needless to say - are the reason for this website.
If you have enjoyed your trip back in time with me I do hope you might also listen in to my 1940 / 1950 / 1960's style music within my new musical eBook for 2017. It is called "Shiloh Plain" and one of my songs is playing right now. Many others from tthe Musical plus the tale of two friends during The American Civil War can be heard in the eBook - or simply click on to any photograph [left] to go there to read a few chapters and hear some of the songs.
Please do feel free to contact me on any aspect of your trip back in time with me at thehificombo@aol.com or via my Contact Page.
Regards.
Edward
